Here’s another Weblogian’s Tips and Tricks to get traffic and better search ranking from Wordpress.com by doing some tweaking around with Wordpress.com.
Make your Name/Username link to your blog
We bloggers don’t like links left in the comments and most bloggers have their filters set to recognize anything with links in it as spam. Having ourn name or username link to our own blog avoids those problems as well as makes it easier for members in the Wordpress help forum to find our blog and see how they can help us with whatever problem we are having.
All you need to do is-SIGN UP with Wordpress.com. Assuming that you got an account and a blog with Wordpress.com.
Go into your dashboard > users > your profile > then scroll down to ‘Primary blog ‘. In the check box select address of your custom blog and save the changes.
Let’s go simple-All I did was change my blog URL from http://weblogian.wordpress.com to my self hosted Wordpress domain- http://www.weblogian.com/blog
Click on the images to view in large view.
![]()
Next, scroll down a little bit more to ‘contact info’. In the section where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now, when you comment on Wordpress Forum and on other blogs, your name will link to your custom blog. If you request for help or offers tips and tricks, it will allow forum members to be able to help you quicker and you do not need to drop your link there as it has already linked.
You will need to use the forum regularly and comment on the forum to get results.
